Haiku by Basho

Today's poem is a haiku by Matsuo Basho, a famous Japanese poet from the 1600s. For National Poetry Month, try writing your own haiku. Typically, a haiku written in English would have three lines with 5/7/5 syllables. Haiku poetry tends to pull from images of nature. If you're feeling especially ambitious, try adding the "cut," or juxtaposition of two images.

Read, listen, share, create, and be on watch.
