"Can You See The Pride In The Panther" by Tupac Shakur

Tupac, born Lesane Parish Crooks, probably needs little introduction. Known most as a poet, rapper, and screenwriter/actor, he used his work to articulate the struggles and injustices of the African American community.

Personally, I had a hard time deciding which Tupac poem/lyrics to post today. "The Rose That Grew From Concrete" is my favorite, but this one is a close second and showcases brilliant symbolism, metaphor, imagery, and rhythm.

Can You See The Pride In The Panther?
by Tupac Shakur

Can You See the Pride In the Panther
As he grows in splendor and grace
Topling obstacles placed in the way,
of the progression of his race.

Can You See the Pride In the Panther
as she nurtures her young all alone
The seed must grow regardless
of the fact that it is planted in stone.

Can You See the Pride In the Panthers
as they unify as one.
The flower blooms with brilliance,
and outshines the rays of the sun.

Read, listen, share, create, and be on watch.
